Loose Parts: Promoting STEAM Education

Participants will explore the theory of Loose Parts and how loose parts promote STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) in the early childhood classroom. Through hands-on experiences participants will explore a variety of natural and recycled materials and learn how to use them in their own classroom settings. This workshop will be held at Durham's Northgate Mall (next to Sprint at the Sears end of the mall) in The Wonder of Learning Exhibit (space 223) so participants can view and reflect on the examples from the infant-toddler centers and preschools of the Istituzione - Municipality of Reggio Emila, Italy as part of the workshop.

2.5 Contact Hour Credits will be awarded with the completion of this workshop
Cost $15 -- each participant will receive a bag with a sampling of loose parts
